  • On July 6/7, at Kingston (Jamaica), skipper Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most centuries in ODI while chasing.
    It was Kohli's 28th hundred in One-day cricket, 18 of which have come while chasing.
    Tendulkar took 232 innings to reach 17, while Kohli has reached the milestone in only 102 innings.
    Third in the list is Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan, who scored 11 centuries in 116 innings while batting second.
    Kohli also became the first Indian captain to score two hundreds against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
    Previously, only Rahul Dravid had scored a hundred as captain in the Caribbean against the West Indies. Overall, this is Kohli's fourth ton against the West Indies.

    In July 2017, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella played at Wimbledon while four-and-a-half months pregnant, , as set to join Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka as a tennis mum.

  • Hwasong-14 is ICBM
    On Kuly, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un celebrated the test-fire of Hwasong-14; country’s first intercontinental ballistic missile that could hit targets “anywhere in the world”
    The projectile had reached an altitude of 2,802km and flew 933km for 39 minutes before hitting a target in the Sea of Japan.

 

  • Doklam Plateau is north of the tri-junction of Sikkim, Bhutan and Tibe
    The area also provides, according to India's perspective, a bigger buffer to its sensitive Chicken’s Neck, or the Siliguri Corridor, which is an extremely narrow stretch of land that connects the Northeast to the rest of the country. From the Chumbi Valley it is just a little over 100 kilometres away.

  • On July 4, 2017 PM Modi visited the Danziger “Dan” flower farm along with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu in Mishmar Hashiva where they were briefed about the latest technologies being used for floriculture.
  • A new fast-growing Israeli flower was named after PM Modi, in a special gesture to mark the first visit of an Indian premier to the Jewish nation. Israeli Crysanthumun flower will now be called “MODI”
    The Danziger flower farm is one of Israel’s leading floriculture companies with approximately 80,000 square metres of state-of-the-art greenhouses specialising in reproduction of plants.

    At Ben Gurion Airport, PM Modi was received by his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, in an unusual gesture that also pointed to the warmth and happiness of Israel in welcoming the first-ever visit by an Indian PM.
    The two leaders visited Danziger flower farm and Yad Vashem Memorial museum

 

  • Canada
    On July 1, 201,7Britains Prince Charles joined Canada Day celebrations as the country marks its 150th anniversary on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada,
    Prime Minister Justin Trudeau kicked off celebrations amid heavy security and some 25,000 people assembled at a large outdoor celebration in front of the national Parliament in Ottawa, where Irish singer Bono and other members of rock band U2 enthralled the audience.

  • Long March-5 Y2 is China’s heavy-lift carrier rocket which failed on July 2, 2017.
    It was blasted off from Wenchang Space Launch Center in southern province of Hainan
  • The launch was the last test for the Long March-5 series before its mission to send the Chang’e-5 lunar probe into space in the latter half of this year, which was to return with samples.
    With a weight of 7.5 tonnes, Shijian-18 is China’s latest technology experiment satellite and the heaviest satellite China has ever launched into space

 

  • 88th
    As per reports in July 2017, India has slipped to the 88th place in terms of money parked by its citizens with Swiss banks, while the UK remains on the top.
    India was placed 75th in 2015 and 61st in the year before that.
    The money officially held by Indians with banks in Switzerland now accounts for 0.04 per cent of the total funds kept by all foreign clients.
