Auto manufacturer

·         On August 4, 2008  UN Industrial Development Organisation, in its International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2008 listed India as one of the top global auto-makers, ahead of countries such as Italy, China, Brazil and Singapore.

·         As per data it compiled in 2006, India ranks 12th in the list of world’s top 15 automakers, which is led by Japan followed by the US and Germany.

·         India is ranked 12th on the list, ahead of Brazil, Italy and Indonesia.
In the leading developing countries category, India ranks fourth. The list is topped by Mexico, followed by Korea and Iran.
