·         On March 1, 2008 at Chittagong, South African skipper Graeme Smith (232) and Neil McKenzie (226) surpassed the 413-run opening partnership record of Pankaj Roy and Vinoo Mankad set in Chennai in 1956 against New Zealand

·         South Africa, with Smith (232) and McKenzie (226) setting world record of 415 for an opening stand, declared their first innings on 583-7, and restricted Bangladesh  to 60-3 at close of second day at Chittagong Divisional stadium.
