Yadavs at Patna Railway Station

  • On June 19/20, 2006 Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s younger brother-in-law, Subhash Yadav, forced officers at Patna railway station to make the Rajdhani Express leave from platform 1 because he found it inconvenient to walk down to platform 4.
  • Lalu Yadav’s elder brother-in-law, Sadhu Yadav, tried to do the same thing with another train the next day.
  • Just when the officers were trying to convince Subhash Yadav that it would be hard to meet his demand, the announcer at the station announced that the train would leave from platform 4.
  • A fuming Subhash Yadav “abused” the railway officials and threatened not to allow the train to leave Patna if it was not brought to platform 1.
  • The railway authorities gave in and the train finally was finally brought to platform 1.
  • There was chaos at the station as hundreds of passenger were seen rushing from platform 4 to 1.

  • On June 20/21, the railway authorities faced the same situation.
    • Anirudha Prasad, alias Sadhu Yadav, was to board the Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express and, knowing his brother’s exploits of the day before, asked the officer at Patna railway station to bring the train to platform 1 because he too found it inconvenient to walk to platform 4.
      • But Sadhu Yadav was left disappointed as the railway authorities refused to change the track of the train, which had reached near Patna railway station, because suddenly changing it to platform 1 could have led to a disaster.
